Industry: Events & Hospitality | Size: medium | Region: Switzerland | Focus: Digital platform and market transparency
Situation
A Swiss association of event organisers wanted to map, align and index event service suppliers across Switzerland. The goal was to make the Swiss event industry more competitive in winning customers.
Challenge
The Swiss event market is fragmented:
-
Suppliers are hard to find and compare. Many have little visibility, and the information about their services is inconsistent. Finding out whether a DJ speaks English can take a phone call. In practice, an event succeeds or fails on the organiser’s personal contact book.
-
No combined offers. Suppliers work on their own, so customers struggle to book a package from several providers, even through an agency.
-
Regional limits. Agencies usually know one region well but struggle when a customer wants to move an event elsewhere, for example from French-speaking to German-speaking Switzerland.
Meanwhile, neighbouring destinations such as Lake Como and Provence offer quick, all-in-one packages and a strong “can-do” attitude. Swiss options are already seen as expensive, and without that speed and convenience, customers move abroad easily.
Solution
-
A national supplier map. We indexed and mapped the full range of Swiss event service suppliers.
-
Standardised supplier profiles. Suppliers fill in a set of defined parameters that answer most of a customer’s first questions, and add photos of their services.
-
An online platform where customers can search, rank and contact suppliers in one place.
-
A model for growth. The platform can earn revenue through sponsorships and paid premium features, which supports its own marketing.
Expected result
The platform is currently being rolled out, and suppliers are building up the database. It aims to deliver:
-
Faster event planning, with key supplier information available upfront.
-
Equal visibility for suppliers, whatever their size or region.
-
Events across regions, without depending on any one agency’s local network.
-
A more competitive Swiss offer compared with neighbouring markets.
